The Pinoy Gaming Festival 2011 (PGF 2011), the Philippines’ biggest gaming expo and e-sports event of the year, drew its curtains last Sunday, 30th October 2011, to much fanfare after a hectic 3 days of e-gaming goodness. Spectators and participants alike packed halls of Cyberzone, by the thousands in what was an intense tussle over the honors of two of the country’s biggest eSports titles; StarCraft 2 and Defense of the Ancients, DotA.

The event, which started on the 28th, also marked the end of a long season for the Mineski Pro-Gaming league Season 3 (MPGL), which ushered a whopping turnout of 64 teams, or 320 participants in total, to the PGF arena. The contenders were eventually distilled down to the final two in which Mineski.Infinity PowerColor picked up top prize for sweeping aside KVG.Izone in the DotA category.

The PGF was also the platform for the Philippine World Cyber Game qualifiers (WCG PH) and in the other official game of the night, Caviar 'EnDerr' Acampado beat runner-up Paolo 'JaBiTo' Javier to claim the crown as the Philippine’s best at the massively popular sci-fi real-time strategy game, StarCraft 2. The RTS was picked up by WCG Philippines as an official game after a 2 year absence; the game was also streamed live from Cyberzone to all 28,000 live stream subscribers registered on the MPGL.
